Where it began

Founded in 2011, Bitsight began with a bold idea: to improve global cybersecurity through transparency and data. At the time, there was a critical gap in the industry — a lack of objective, continuous, and independently sourced measurements of cybersecurity performance. We saw an opportunity to change that.

Our founders envisioned a solution that would give companies, insurers, investors, and governments the insights they needed to better understand, communicate, and manage cyber risk.

That vision led to the creation of the security rating — the first of its kind — which revolutionized how cybersecurity performance is measured and laid the groundwork for one of the most comprehensive cyber risk datasets in the world.
