dds-header-imageOn June 22, 2014, BitSight CTO and Cofounder Stephen Boyer (@SWBoyer) joined Bob Rudis (@hrbrmstr) and Jay Jacobs (@jayjacobs) on their Data Driven Security Podcast series.  This conversation was long in the works, and something we were really excited to be a part of.

Podcast highlights include discsussions about:

  • "If you can't express something in numbers, you don't know what you're talking about" (Paraphrasing Lord Kelvin) and how that led to the formation of BitSight.
  • How the industry is shifting from looking at controls as a state of security and instead looking at how effective those controls are
  • The importance of historical data in looking at security performance trends and what organizations can learn from measuring and comparing this data
  • What to look for in a data scientist and the importance of reproducable research.
