An Update on the State of Cyber Risk in Spain

Today ElevenPaths, the Telefónica Group’s global cybersecurity unit, released a report highlighting cybersecurity trends for the first half of 2019. As a follow-up to a November 2018 report, ElevenPaths again takes a close look at how cybersecurity is trending in Spain and compares statistics for Spain against the whole of Europe.

Basing much of its study on research from Bitsight, ElevenPaths’ study highlights the following trends:

  • The time it takes for a company in Europe to remediate a malware instance grew over the last quarter from 3 days to 5. The legal sector leads all industries needing only an average of 2 days to remediate. Food production companies lag behind all others, needing 11 days to remediate.
  • In Spain, companies in the health sector take up to 17 days to neutralize a malware infection.
  • Gamarue and Conficker remain the most common malware threats across Europe.
